České Budějovice is deservedly known as the city of beer, of excellent beer of course. You cannot leave the city without having tasted the golden beverage. Two breweries operate here at present: Budějovický Budvar n.p. (national corporation) and Budějovický měšťanský pivovar (the former Samson brewery).
You will have the opportunity to taste several kinds of beer from the Budvar brewery, including ring lager, the local speciality, in a famous Budvar restaurant and learn interesting facts on the history of brewing in České Budějovice up to the present day.

Would you like to see how good quality homemade brandy or fruit liqueurs are made from various kinds of fruit? You can visit a family run fruit distillery in a picturesque South Bohemian village, including a professional presentation and of course a tasting session.
A local expert will show you around the distillery and disclose many secrets on the origins of homemade brandies and liqueurs. This will be followed by the tasting of several excellent samples of local production in a tasting room. You can also buy several types of locally produced brandy here in beautiful gift packaging.

Picnic in the park
A picnic hamper will be prepared for you full of selected delicacies, from a starter up to a dessert, including drinks and sparkling wine for a toast, as well as a comfortable blanket to lie down on in the grass. You can spread the blanket out in a pleasant spot in one of the parks in České Budějovice, for example along the River Malše or River Vltava and your open air feast can begin. For a more stylish picnic you could go the gardens of Hluboká Castle.
